Meaning of Prana
One of the meanings of the word PRANAPrana is a Sanskrit word literally meaning "life-force", the invisible bio-energy or vital energy that keeps the body alive and maintains a state of good health. The Japanese call this subtle energy Ki, the Chinese Chi, while the Greeks refer to it as Pneuma. In Maori it is known as Mana, and in Hebrew, Ruah - meaning "Breath of Life." Pranic Healing is a form of energy healing which makes use of Prana, or vital energy, in the treatment of a wide variety of ailments. A Pranic healer uses his/her hands to scan the patient. The patient's body is not touched. The healer is looking for a change in body temperature. Once that area has been established the healer, in a sweeping motion, will try to move the energies surrounding that area until the temperature is equalised. Here at PRANA Retreat we gain inspiration from three sources:
Trees and plants absorb Prana from sun, air, and ground and exude a lot of excess Prana. Tired or sick people benefit much by lying down under trees. |
